Colorado TAT on a DRZ400 || Rocky Mountain Dual Sport riding!!
In this Episode of our Colorado-Utah trip (Part 2 of many) we leave from La Quinta Hotel in Trinidad Colorado. This town is minutes away from the first section of the TransAmerica Trail we planned to hit. We ended up heading the wrong way on the trail for about an hour, but got to see the changes in scenery that was totally new for me! I can say I was minutes away from riding in New Mexico now :) Once we got on the right track, we quickly noticed a difference in the scenery and elevation, heading into the mountains!
The mountains brought many amazing views and luckily, some cooler weather. This riding day ended about midnight and we were all about cooked, ready for bed. Lighting wasn't favorable and the campground was packed so we set up camp and went straight to bed. We stayed at Tomichi Creek Trading Post in Sargents, Colorado. This was amazing as we fell asleep to the sound of gentle water and woke up to some amazing views! The Trading Post offered camping, Cabins, a well stocked general store AND a nice little restaurant with AMAZING breakfast burritos, coffee and if you're up for it/time of day even had cold beer on tap.
Stay tuned for many more episodes in this series, we had an absolutely amazing time! This was a trip for the books, one that was VERY hard to come back to reality..

This may be one of those "Do Not Try this at Home" Situations. Although, I've had very good luck with this set up thus far. I purchased the lifting motor/cable combo from amazon at the below link. The rest of the mounting hardware I had lying around. Having a general understanding and respect for the weight/size of the task at hand goes a long way. I've moved a lot heavier equipment in my life ...

Exactly what I was looking for! Some companies make rally towers for this bike, but man, I can't justify spending 1-2K on some bracketing and lighting. This is a great compromise and should work nicely! See the product link below. (No affiliation with this company, though a very nice quality product!) Buy me a coffee! Hell yeah!
Nice! Top tune!
I have a similar motor to this one and the rope will not retract only when the spark plugs are in. The flywheel and propeller move freely. It’s not locked up. I have tried cleaning out the cylinders to check that, I have changed out the tension spring. I have read some forums about it and have tried what they said and still not pulling with spark plugs in. I’m hoping you can give me some tips.
Personally never ran into that on these engines! I would initially say the recoil spring would be broken or sprung, but you changed that. I’m sorry I can’t be more help. Thanks for watching and your support
That truck sounds evil! 😂 nice job bud.
Thanks! She’s tuned up, finally have a decent one I landed on. Thanks for watching and your continued support, Ste!
Looks like a good trip so far
@@GUNSLINGEROUTDOORS so much more to share! Thanks for watching and commenting!
HELL YEAH BÖRTHÈR
Nice work, mucker! Looks the dogs danglers
Looks awesome!
Enjoy 😊!
Nice one, Justin. Great video, pal. Can't believe you broke the Mrs toy! You would be one of those dads on Christmas morning playing with all the kids' toys until they break, 😂 Nice knives, bud, in particular, I like the mini bushlore. That axe looks naughty 😳 Thank you for the shout, buddy. Take it easy.
I like it, the feel of the ceiling is nice, I made a drop down bed, we park two bikes in the 7x12 for winter, and one when we go camping. I see you have no heat, or water.
Thanks! It’s definitely a work in progress. I found I want to completely redo the cabinets up front and incorporate a diesel heater, sink and water tanks. Currently my heat is a 1500 watt infrared heater, but it’s a portable. I’m looking forward to doing a camp trip soon and explain some more in real time.
@@JBOutdoors Been looking at different options myself, I like the CDH but wish it was a real thermostat, I see they have a couple of different types out there now that are a real control, but don't want a whole new unit, then they also sell just the controller, nope they are more than a new unit. I will try to send a few pictures things I did, I tried yesterday but didn't see them show up..
Wow! 😮
Hell yeah
Noice
👌
Thank you for the tip with the ladder and Jack inside to hold up boards to screw into.
I’m glad my hillbilly engineering worked for you! I’m the kind of person that’ll suffer before asking for help. Just had to stare at the garage tools and think for a second. Thanks for watching, I hope the video was useful for you! Take care
@@JBOutdoors sure did work, thank you.
That's very cool
Good song choice, fits the video well.
I'm not sure where to start Justin. We definitely started at the same time, and yes, it has been a grind to get to this point, which I'm sure you will be close soon enough, hopefully one day we can plan a trip up north here in Canada and fish together that would be epic! Thanks so much for being a UA-cam buddy for all these years!
Amen to that Raul!
You absolute legend Justin! 😄 Hand on my heart today, I was playing your channel, and I thought shall I take a pic and send it because we now have the same haircut 😆 Top vid m8. And your editing and content has come on leaps and bounds. I enjoy your vids regardless, but your edits are nice and clean. Thank you sir.
@@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors thanks sir! Made this video a couple weeks back, always happy to spread the support any way possible! Looking forward to getting videos scheduled up and continue rolling. Thanks as always for the continued support! Also, the haircut.. happens to the best of us!
Awesome 👌
Where did you find that standoff for the $22 Garmin quick attach?
The standoff came with the NICECNC mini fairing kit
@@JBOutdoors that’s good news! Thanks!
Great job!!! I watched the vent fan install from a couple of years ago, do you by chance have the link for the vent fan?
Thank you for your continued support! The exact link to the item I purchased in May of 2022: a.co/d/3En797w thanks again for watching, commenting, and supporting the channel!
Thanks!!! I'm in the process of converting a 6x14 TA , the vent fan is on top of the list. I'm prepping the first quarter now for insulation.
Smart that 👌 nice finish to it all. What the bloody hell was the yellow turbo off!? 😄
Thank you sir! It’s exactly what I needed on the bike. we spend about 8-10 days at a time on them and depend solely on the bike across 1500 miles so it’s fun to make small additions at a time. That’s the cold housing of a turbo off a CAT G3516C genset. One of the engines my team maintains as renewable energy. The engine is about the size of your Land Rover! Thanks for your support Ste.
@JBOutdoors wow! That's awesome 👌 any time, my friend. Looking forward towatching more.
Looking like a trailer to transport your quad😂
Yep! I can fit two quads and one motorcycle or up to 4 dirtbikes all at once. Unload and fold the bed down and have a camper to stay in instead of motel or tents
Very nice setup JB
Mint! 😂
Love the cedar ceiling. I hear mini splits can keep the trailer cold even up to 100°.
Thank you! May be going to the mini split in the future then! Thanks for the advice
Yeah, I've been looking into the mini-split option myself. I've been told they work really well but would probably need to be generator powered. I just bought a new 7x16 and will be going through the same thing you all are.
New toy?
Austin’s!
Nice! it looks so slick & clean @JBOutdoors
❤
What's that?
Believe to be a green Herring. We found the tree it was nesting in and it crawled right back up! Freaky looking bird!

Nice bike JB
Learned the hard way that short beds suck! Nice work making the best of what you have.
It’s no KTM, but I guess it’ll do
I'd rather have this over a cheap KTM Chinese motor anyday
No way a starter motor turns that. How do these big guys fire up?
@@jso5157 x2 24v starter motors and 4 batteries. Some applications are air starters but these are 24v systems
Cheers
What happens if you need to use the desk and the AC at the same time? 🤔
Luckily the exhaust plate can go in any of our 3 windows. So far it hasn’t been an issue! Great question thanks for watching :)
Love the trailer, great work!
Thanks man!
Very nice thank you for showing it on you tube have a nice day.
Sounds great!
Lmao
What brand/model backpack are you using? Maxpedition?
Actually a no name Amazon purchase. It’s a super versatile size pack and has a 3 liter hydration bladder as well.
What is that camp stove setup you have for making coffee? Seems really slick and compact
An Amazon find! It’s nice the entire setup compacts so and has been a versatile set up for moto camping. I’ve tried a couple different ones and this one seems to make the most sense. I can share a link if via email at jboutdoorsmore@gmail.com. Thanks for watching!
@@JBOutdoors awesome! I’ll PM you
